Mamombe undergoes state psychiatric tests
HARARE,ZIMBABWE.(News Of the South)-MDC Alliance MP Joanna Mamombe, who was arrested when she did not appear in court weeks ago after she was admitted to a local hospital due to health issues, is to undergo further psychiatric tests.

Mamombe and her colleagues, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova, are accused of faking their abduction by state security agents almost five months ago when they were protesting against lack of food for households under the country COVID-19 lockdown.
The warrant for her arrest was canceled when her doctor submitted evidence that she was unwell. Prosecutor Michael Reza then sought an order from the court for her mental evaluation.
The court ordered her mental examination after her lawyer indicated that she is suffering from anxiety disorder and could not comprehend court proceedings.
Mamombe’s attorney, Alec Muchadehama, said:“What it means is that she is now a prisoner. She was on bail but now she can no longer get medical help on her own. We are taking this matter further to ensure that she is tried while on bail.”
This being the case, the public has been advised to wait for the results showing if there was any rape or sexual assault during the trio’s abduction.
