Lilongwe. Malawi. (News of The South) – The performance of most male boxers in Malawi is continuing to dwindle despite being accorded the opportunities to showcase their skills at international level.

One of the country’s most celebrated boxers Wilson “Shasha“ Masamba went into the ring in Johannesburg to trade punches with another equally good boxer from the rainbow nation, Lunga Sitmela in 10 Rounds Abu South Super Featherweight title bout on Friday evening.

Fighting in a jam packed auditorium the two boxers were on top of their trade before the South African boxer started showing some flashes of brilliance in the sixth round and Masamba was all over the ring ducking to the powerful missiles Sitmela was releasing at will.
Fresh from the 8th round recess, the Malawian boxer was in for trouble when in an effort to gain ground he was caught off guard to a powerful punch which sent him to the ground for Sitmela to record a ninth round technical knockout to his credit.

Meanwhile another Malawi`s Super Lightweight boxer Mussa Ajibu was expected to meet another misfiring boxer Akani Phuzi from the same Rainbow nation in a Saturday night fight at the same auditorium in Jo`burg.

Of late male boxers in Malawi are not performing very well in international fights as compared to female boxers such as the Commonwealth Female Lightweight Champion Anishah Bashir and Agness Mtimaukanena Mwando whose performances have been outstanding.
