Lilongwe, Malawi. (News of The South – The Disciplinary Committee of the world football governing body FIFA has banned some football officials for their involvement in the match manipulation in violation of Act: 69 par.
1 of the disciplinary Code (Unlawfully influencing match results)
Kudzanai Shaba of Zimbabwe and Hellings Mwakasungula of Malawi are among the eight players/former players as well As the agents who are on the list of the banned soccer individuals.
Some of the individuals who have been banned are:
– Mr Karlon Murry, Trinidad and Tobago
– Mr Keyemo Thomas, Trinidad and Tobago
– Mr Hellings Mwakasungula, Malawi.
– Mr Ibrahim Kargbo, Sierra Leone
– Mr Kunadzai Shaba, Zimbabwe
– Mr Seidath Tchomogo, Benin
– Mr Leonel Duarte, Cuba
– Mr Mohammed Salim Israfeel Kohistani, Afghanistan.
The Kenyan player George Owino Audi has been banned from taking part in any football activity at both national and international level for a period of ten years; in addition a fine in the amount of CHF 15,000 has been imposed upon him.
The press statement made available to News of the South said “formal proceedings into the aforementioned individuals stemmed from an extensive investigation into various international matches that Mr Wilson Raj Perunal attempted to manipulate for betting purposes”
This large scale investigation was conducted by FIFA over several years through its Integrity Department and in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders and authorities, “reads the statement.
Meanwhile the Fifa website has also communicated that the decisions were notified to the individuals concerned today, the date on which the relevant bans come into force.
