Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – BUSINESS almost came to a halt at Chitungwiza Central Hospital when the Yadah Surprise Team led by Prophetess Tendai Magaya visited the hospital as part of her church’s weekly outreach programme and social responsibility cause.
What was supposed to be a surprise visit to patient Solanji Mbombo who had just been blessed with a newly-born baby but was struggling to foot hospital bills as well as finding clothes for the baby whom she named Enock ended up being a major spectacle as visitors, patients and members of staff jostled to catch a glimpse of Mai Magaya and her team.
The lady-of-the-cloth, who is wife to prominent Prophet Walter Magaya, the founder and leader of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) Ministries, had visited Mbombo (18), who is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who together with her husband were facing challenges in raising money to pay the bills that had accrued towards services rendered to her by the hospital.
Touched by Mbombo’s plight, Nurse Rumbidzai Hove, who works at the hospital’s maternity ward and is also a member of PHD Ministries, used her initiative, effort and influence to convince Mai Magaya and the Yadah Surprise Team to pay a visit to Mbombo and her newly-born baby.
“I was tasked by Yadah Surprise Team to identify a patient who was in need, and the first person who came into my mind was Mbombo whose husband was having a tough time trying to raise the money required for payment by the hospital. The Yadah Surprise Team first wanted to know how much the bill carried, whether the child was a boy or girl and also whether they should buy summer or winter clothes for the baby.
“They wanted to make it a big surprise; and a surprise indeed it was, when the well-wishers arrived with the good news. This was also her first time to hear about PHD,” Nurse Hove explained.
Mai Magaya donated baby clothes, sanitary pads and other baby accessories for the baby before proceeding to pay the bills in cash.
“This surprise means a lot to me since I didn’t expect it. It was so hard for me. I don’t have words to say but I just want to thank the man of God and PHD ministries. Thank you very much. May God bless you,” said Mbombo as she received the donations from Mai Magaya.
On the other hand, Mai Magaya said she and her Yadah Surprise Team decided to assist Mbombo after hearing of her situation.
“It is part of our work as the Yadah Surprise Team whereby we visit different places every week assisting people in need. The purpose is to give a smile to someone. When we heard that she was struggling to raise money for paying the hospital bills after being discharged, and also that she needed clothes for her baby, that’s when we as the Yadah team decided to chip in and assist her,” said Magaya, who added that they have been to other places like Parirenyatwa Hospital.
During the visit, she also took the opportunity to distribute anointed water to people.
There was drama as one of the ladies who received a bottle of anointed water from Mai Magaya suddenly fell to the ground and started rolling in seizures before some members of the team restrained her as Mai Magaya prayed for her.
“That was a demon that had manifested itself,” explained one bystander.
Sister Itai Marufu from the hospital said they hoped the Yadah team would visit the institution more frequently.
“We appreciate the anointing that we received here today as a hospital, as well as the love that Mai Magaya has showed us, especially by paying the bill for one of our patients. She also distributed water for life (anointed water) and gave spiritual deliverance to both members of staff and the patients. This was spiritually uplifting and as a result we expect more of such visits,” said Sister Marufu, who was in the company of Sister-in Charge Irene Gombe.
CCH Public Relations Officer, Mrs Audrey Tasaranarwo, said the visit by the Yadah Surprise Team, led by Mai Magaya came at time when the hospital needed more assistance.
“Our catchment area is very big and we also receive patients from as far as Harare and other places. Our request is for your assistance in acquiring items like sheets, blankets while drugs are our major requirement. There is also need for assistance in drilling a borehole, among other things,” she explained.
