Differences are an integral part of life. If we were all the same, I presume it would be boring and very monotonous so much so that life would not be able to bring about new ideas.
It’s good to be surrounded by people that love and adore you when you share the same modus operandi on how to deal with a common problem, yet it gives one more strength when diversion from modus operandi begets enemies from within your “loved ones and public admirers”. The prayers and love from fellow comrades and Zimbabweans at large epitomized my drive and will to survive during my trials and tribulations that were tantamount to torture and an abyss of hell within the circuit of my life. I was so energized even when I was illegally detained, incarcerated, tortured, abused and victimized for the unknown reasons that were seen by the blind and the dead. I felt that the Martin Luther dream was coming to Zimbabwe and I was part and I am still part of the change process.
“#TogetherWeCan” was my inspirational three course meal consistently until my eyes opened up and saw things differently and perceived reality. Sadly my Damascus moment was solitary as my friends and fellow comrades struggled to fathom my new direction to the Promised Land. The goal never changed and it will never change as the vision is still the same and still fixed on the removal of a system of purported liberators that trample on the rights of their assumed “people. In a match of football the need to constantly revise strategy and formation is a consistent way of dealing with the unforeseen and forced errors, it doesn’t mean diversion from the aim to win the match but it’s a matter of using a strategy to deal with each team as it comes. It’s a by any means necessary approach for we play once and records stay forever and will forever be recalled in the history and future of times. Columbia played their hearts out last night and yet the world has already forgotten about them and their efforts have gone unrewarded as the whole world does not appreciate the efforts that comes with their send home results. The world does not recognize losers no matter how much effort the loser has put and the injustice they have suffered in the process. It remembers champions. Such is the trajectory that everyone wants to be associated with a winning team, who would have imagined Sweden in the quarter finals?
It would be all cozy and apparently politically sane to run with the Chamisa brand if my priorities were for personal fulfillment and driven by a desire to sing from the common hymn book. However having brushed shoulders with all game changers, I have managed to discern between real and pseudo leaders. I chose to fight this war from a different corner than the seemingly better placed to succeed because that’s where it ends. It will always seem and never be…
My decision to go with the oppressed among the opposition is driven by the knowledge that this is no war for personal wealth accrual but for the liberation of all in all various dimensions of oppression. What does it benefit me to champion change and yet ignore the heavy machinations against the total emancipation of the girl child. I ignored the perennial follow the crowd tag that has been emblazoned on women politicians. My conviction for a better and brighter Zimbabwe directs the political partners I stand with. Change begins from within before it’s expressed vehemently on the outside.
I remain the same woman that loathes and pities oppressive systems, whether borrowed, imported or acquired. Zanu Pf is going and I will be part of the cause elements. In my little way history will record, sadly prophesy and home ground share a regrettable relationship but one day all the shenanigans and manipulation of the masses by other political actors will be revealed openly. I am for change and it sticks.
