Lieutenant-General Christian Tshiwewe takes the command standard of the Fardc staff in Congo

During a military parade organized this Thursday, October 13, 2022 morning, at the General Staff of the FARDC at the Kokolo camps, the President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo presented the standard of command to the new Head of State -Major General of the Fardc, Lieutenant-General Christian Tshiwewe Songesa, whom he appointed on October 3.
This change of command between the incoming and outgoing Chief EMG took place in the presence of heads of institutions, senior officers, non-commissioned officers, sailors and soldiers.
The ceremony began with a word of circumstance from the outgoing Head of EMG Mbala Musense appointed to head the army in July 2018.
Mbala Musense paid tribute to the President of the Republic for the confidence granted to him, he who has the merit of having led the army during the electoral and post-electoral period 2018.
General Mbala also welcomed all the efforts undertaken in the framework of the reform of the army and the services of the army.
“The military programming law is the cornerstone which will contribute to the development of the operational capacities of the FARDC”, said the former head of the army.
“It will allow the acquisition of major equipment for the fardc in order to deal with threats wherever they come from,” he added.
He said he was confident about the rise of the FARDC while publicly denouncing the aggression of the country by foreign forces.
To his successor Tshiwewe, Mbala wished full success while calling on the military to be loyal and obedient to the new army authorities.
He urged him to “do everything possible to consolidate and coordinate the clear support of the population for the armed forces”.
24th in the series, Lieutenant-General Christian Tshiwewe, 54 years old,
was the commander of the Republican Guard. He received the standard from the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi who had taken it over from the outgoing EMG chief Mbala Musense.
“Lieutenant-General Tshiwewe, I give you this standard, symbol of command; I ask you to defend it until the supreme sacrifice”, the president told the new army chief.
The new Chief EMG FARDC Christian Tshiwewe took the oath of obedience and loyalty to the President of the Republic.

He made a commitment to defend the independence and territorial integrity of the country until the supreme sacrifice. He also swore to carry out with loyalty all the missions that the president of the republic will entrust to him.
At 54, General Three Stars Tshiwewe is the very first EMG FARDC leader not from the ranks of the former FAZ (Zairian Armed Forces).
The ceremony was marked by a parade of fardc units of the Land Force, Air Force, Naval Force and Republican Guard of the City of Kinshasa garrison.
