Let`s Not Depend On Sponsors But lets Try Farming – ZIFA President
The newly re-elected controversial Zimbabwe soccer governing body president Cuthbert Dube said instead of relying with sponsors it was high time the association should turn to farming.
During Dube’s first four year term in office, the association debt grew to $6m and knowing that with his proven record of failure it will be too difficult to lure sponsors to the governing body is lobbing for farming as an alternative for acquiring funds.
“Maybe some people will ask if I’m still alright in my head, but we are going to diversify into farming in a very big way,” said Dube.
“I’ve already started talking to the responsible government ministry, as we’ve got the land reform program,” he added.
Zimbabwean football for the past years have only recorded a mere success by finishing fourth at African Nations Championship finals the rest were losses and disasters with the governing body failing to offer the senior men’s coach Ian Gorowa a contract whilst he has been on the job for almost eight months.
“Let`s not depend on sponsors – some are also sinking financially,” Dube stated.
We are going to do cattle ranching and crop farming, and there is no way out we can fail.”
