Leicester City making progress in reducing Covid-19 infections.

LEICESTER, United Kingdom.(News of the South)-Leicester City is making significant progress in reducing the number of Covid-19 infections.

By Liberty Makusha

This comes after the City imposed a strict lockdown when Covid-19 cases had dramatically increased some couple of weeks back.

“Over 70,000 tests for coronavirus have been carried out in Leicester since 20 June. The biggest community testing operation in the country is helping us to track the virus and stop it spreading.

“The infection rate here has come down considerably: from 157 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to 26 June, to 74 per 100,000 people in the seven days to 18 July. I want to recognise the efforts people are making across the city. Thank you for following the measures that will keep you, your families and your communities safe. You’re helping to get us out of lockdown faster,”reads a statement released by the city authorities.

“We must all keep doing what we can – and the testing programme is vitally important. Some people have the virus but don’t have symptoms. Testing can identify this and stop people passing it on without realising. If we offer you a test, please take it,” city authorities added.
