Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South) – Church and religion has over the past years remained silent in commenting political issues of the day until now that the current setting in the country projecting toward events that could possibly culminate in massacres and violence.
According to the today’s church leaders stability and peaceful atmosphere can only be achieved when the political leaders reign over people with the Godly wisdom hence it ensures harmony and solidarity in the society.
These sentiments were recently echoed by the Chairperson of Churches and Civic Society Joint Forum (CCSJF) Reverend Sibanda at a Women Intercessors Network (WIN) Prayer for Peace Program in Mabvuku held last week Friday in Mabvuku.
According to Reverend Sibanda when political leaders are to seek the devine wisdom which the biblical Solomon acquired from God the whole society would not be subjected into disray and instability.
“Just like Solomon who asked for wisdom from God, we now pray for our leaders to lead by wisdom from God. if they lead through wisdom none will call for kudira jecha in our country,” he reiterated.
Reverend Sibanda’s sentiments came at the back of a series of violent threats which have been vociferously issued in the previous weeks issued by youth from main political parties in the country.
To this effect churches and civic society and now in an overdrive urging members of the society to intercede for the political environment to turn calm amid the socio-economic challenges currently effecting the nation could possibly turn into an unstable political atmosphere.
Founding Chairperson of Women Intercessors Network (WIN) Bishop Regina Katsande likened tje current socio-economic challenges to the biblical incident in which Jesus calmed the storm in the midst of a sea.
“Just like the windy that approached Jesus with the disciples, its the same scenario we are facing in our country- In the same way disciples waked up him, it is now time we as women call upon Jesus’s intervention to all the problems in our country.”
