LEAD Press Statement On Age Of Consent To Use Contraception
It’s a taboo, totally UnAfrican to allow our girl children to be legally allowed to use contraceptives at the age of twelve years.
These are minors we are talking about, are not even teenagers. Why have we decided to undermine our African intelligence and try to adopt euro centric views. Which parent will support the idea of giving a child contraceptives at the age of twelve?
We totally agree that children are misbehaving and mitigation must be suggested and put forward but certainly we can’t afford legalising contraceptives to our minor girl children? This questions our character as well as undermining our intelligence as leaders and parents.
Lest we forget, we are Africans addressing African matters and challenges affecting our children, we need to mitigate these challenges and matters in an African manner so that we don’t have future problems with our children. We strongly suggest that we concentrate on instilling our traditional values, ethics and morals in our children so that we nurture decency in them and raise them up with dignity.
There is always an African good way of raising our children. Let us stop internalizing European systems and cultures as it is part of their mission towards full colonisation and control of African mind-sets. It is just like seeing our judges and magistrate’s wearing a white wig on top of their good looking black hair, it’s a sign of colonial imprisonment which must stop forthwith. We need to learn to be proud of being Africans and pushing for the development of Africa using organic African solutions. The Zimbabwe we all want is a Zimbabwe were Zimbabweans are defined by their customs, a country were we own our means of production and get to a level were we totally consume what we produce.

Allow me to acknowledge the fact that 2013 copac agreements is a fraud to the sons and daughters of this soil. We should all be advocating for amendments of other pertinent issues such as the land issues, electoral issues to mention just but a few from the lot enshrined in the 2013 Constitutional fraud. Let’s not waste time debating on a checkmate issue. This contraceptive issue to our children is a lost cause to debate on because we can’t put the lives of our young children at risk by promoting early sexual activities exposing them to STI diseases. As LEAD we always prevent because we say prevention is better than cure.
I thank you all
