0 0Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South) -The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) is unwilling to acquire job specific equipment from Laxton, the BVR supplying company, and is willing to use substandard machinery that will not provide the necessary services when voter registration begins soon, a confidential letter has revealed.
Laxton, the company selected by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to provide Biometric Voter Registration kits warned its negotiating members to be aware that ZEC was just going through the motions and not intent for the best service.
The grave concerns of the company are included in a confidential memo which warns that the electoral body is ‘walking into fire’ in the 2018 elections.
In the letter, Peter Bellin the company ‘s Legal Officer, warned fellow workers to negotiate carefully with ZEC as it appeared intent to get inadequate and shoddy instruments that would be cheap but not provide a proper service come 2018.
This revelation has led to members of the public wonder if this is the new rigging plot by the government to have a ponderous machinery that will ‘mistakenly fail’ to function properly when people begin registering to vote.
