Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-The special chair gift given to President Mugabe by members of the Cabinet, which critics have labelled a rich man’s wheelchair, has drawn a wide range of social jokes not only from the general public but from other politicians and activists.
Prominent lawyer and human rights activist Fadzayi Mahere has joined in on social media posting a satirical photo whilst seated in a real wheelchair captioned ‘ exhausted decided to get a massage”.
The jibe is aimed at sentiments expressed by supporters of the long serving ruler that the special chair isn’t an acknowledgment of the waning physical health of the President but a convenient gadget for a still robust leader.
People Democratic Party leader Tendai Biti also recently taunted the President after he received the chair.
“The spirit missed the irony of his own cabinet gifting him a retirement wheel chair. The Butcher must have hatched this present”, he said.
