News of the South HARARE – MDC-T leader Thokhozani Khupe yesterday expressed her willingness to extend an olive branch to former ally Advocate Nelson Chamisa in the drive towards national dialogue.
Khupe said this during a media briefing held by her party together with other opposition parties under the banner of ‘Progressive Democratic Parties’ (PDP).
“For us, we want to bring everybody together. This is why we are saying we want an all-inclusive dialogue which is not going to leave anyone behind.
“It is about the 15 million people in this country and not individuals and we must run away from individualising issues,” Khupe said.
Khupe’s undertaking comes at a time when the country is in uncertainty as the major political rivals MDC Alliance and ZANU PF have been throwing words back and forth despite President Mnangagwa’s call for dialogue between all political parties and other stakeholders to solve the country’s political and economic challenges.
ZANU PF’s condition on talks is that Advocate Nelson Chamisa recognises Mnangagwa as the duly elected President of Zimbabwe, a stance which has had the former say the President is not committed to dialogue.
Advocate Chamisa singled out President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s legitimacy as the issue which must be thrashed out before the dialogue process can begin.
Khupe said she will not place any conditions for her party’s participation in the envisaged national dialogue process.
