Two explosions that took place in the Kenyan capital Nairobi have left 70 people injured with 8 confirmed dead according to the National Disaster Operation Centre.

The two explosions occurred in the Gikomba market.

The first blast went off on a 14-seater matatu, or public minibus, and the second was inside Gikomba Market, situated to the east of Nairobi’s central business district.

Five ambulances together with the Kenyan Red Cross evacuated casualties from the scene.

Kenya is a target from the El Shebab who have terrorised the East African nation since 2011 for sending troops to Somalia.

Just a few days ago several countries issued travel warnings for people to desist from travelling to Kenya as the country is not safe.

Thursday and Friday saw hundreds of British tourists being evacuated from beach resorts near Mombasa following the travel warnings.

Twin blasts which occurred early this month saw 86 being wounded and 3 dying in Nairobi and blame was on the Islamic militant cells linked to Somalia’s Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab rebels.
