Kadoma, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – KADOMA-BASED artiste is beaming with confidence that he will be a force to reckon with on the local musical fraternity.
Speaking to News of The South, the 25-year-old Donvert Chaora also known as Donvert Snippet said that he think he is destined to greater heights despite that he hails from a small-town outside the capital, Harare.
“I have been doing music since 2009 and have worked with some established music producers like Sani Makhalima,Oskid and FanKan Vigo.
“I can safely say I am now ready to make a name myself in the music industry and I know there are some celebrated artistes already but I will put up a battle,” said a confident Donvert Snippert.
The hip hop artiste has already done collaborations with prominent artistes like Maskiri, Centre Party and Mzimba. One of his best collaboration was in 2012 called ‘ Taita Mbiri’ featuring Trice and Willie Bounce.
Donvert has already set his sights on regional collaborations with a Zambian rap group called Clique Viral on a track called Bhekela Phansi.
“My collaboration with this Zambian outfit has psyched me as the song received much airplay in Zambia,” quipped the young hip hop artiste. He is also inspired by Buffalo Soldier, a Zimbabwean- musician based in South Africa who has made strides across Limpopo.
“I have much respect for Buffalo Soldier. He has shown us that withhard-work and the right mentality you can make it in music.
“It’s a cue that as local artistes we should emulate what Buffalo soldier did, we need to take music seriously and not as a pastime,” advised the young hip hop artiste. Donvert Snippert is a former Induna High School student.
Here in Zimbabwe, most musicians who hail from other cities and towns usually struggle to make a mark in the arts sector.
Recently, celebrated female musician Sandra Ndebele relocated from Bulawayo to Harare two years ago.
