Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Judge Derick Watson of Hawaii has extended to indefinite an order by the Trump adminstration halting the enforcement of the revised order prohibiting the entrance into the US of citizens from 6 Muslim countries, according to RT news.
The Hawaiian Judge who previously blocked US President Trump’s initial executive order on the same issue had set a temporary block on March 15 that was set to expire tomorrow.
However RT news reports that after hearing arguments on the case from the Hawaii attorney general and the US Department of Justice, Watson has extended the temporary block to indefinite.
Judge Watson determined that order to be religious discrimination and a violation of the US Constitution according to RT news.
RT reports that the” Trump adminstration has chosen not to appeal Watson’s decision, but instead to appeal a Maryland court ruling”.
This will enable the case to go to the 4th Circuit, instead of the 9th Circuit, which has also ruled against the travel ban. The 4th Circuit hearing is set to begin on May 8.
