Malawi State House Press Officer Tusekele Mwanyongo rubbished gossip circulating on social media that President Joyce Banda had collapsed following the resignation of Sidik Mia of the ruling Peoples Party (PP) and her cabinet.

Mia was one of Banda`s three vice presidents and also minister of transport and infrastructure stepped down on Friday after “ wide consultation, spiritual and personal reflection”.

Mwanyongo responded on facebook saying: “I have been constrained to post this having noted the deliberate misinformation circulating on social media…”

Mwanyongo urged people to take their reporting seriously.
