Art of Dance and Xoli B
After exciting two weeks, Joburg Festival of Lights goers will this week be treated to the most dynamic atmosphere of illuminated pathways and tunnel into the Festival Lawn, with kiddies rides and Dance and rhythm from the talented group, Art of Dance and the musical talent of singer and songwriter, Xoli B.
Art of Dance is no stranger to the spotlight on a world stage, hailing from Ennerdale with a colourful story to tell, displayed through their passion for dance, has accelerated the group’s reach to perform internationally. Formed in 2014 with 10 young dancers, ages ranging between 8 and 11 years old, in the field of ballet, jazz, contemporary and African dancing, has grown immensely now accommodating 50 dancers. The group promises to bring an eclectic atmosphere to the festival this year as they share the stage with Xoli B.
Xoli B, An accomplished dancer who is also versed in singing, composing, directing, acting and choreography was born in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape and is now based in Gauteng. Xoli began his singing and dancing career in Port Elizabeth around 1999 as a youngster and has gone to work extensively with Gregory Maqoma and Luyanda Sidiya, in various festivals with the Vuyani Dance Theatre and is currently assisting with Musical and vocal directing for Cion: Requiem of Ravel’s Bolero which will be returning to Joburg Theatre soon.
Performances will take place from 19h00 to 22h00 and patrons are encouraged to arrive from 18h00 and allow ample time for Covid screening that will be done at the entrance.
Patrons are encouraged to bring along their camping chairs and picnic blankets to sit on as they listen and enjoy entertainment under Joburg’s starry night sky. The festival will adhere to the level 1 lockdown Covid protocols and patrons are urged to observe them.
Tickets are available at www.joburgtheatre.com priced at R75 for kids 3 – 12 years, R90 for pensioners and R150 for kids 12+ and adults, Kids under 3 enter free. Joburg Theatre are excited to share that there are also discounts patrons could qualify for such as group discounts.
As a disclaimer, the festival organizers would like to inform the public that entertainment will be weather dependent and they request that, while all efforts will be made to communicate with ticket buyers, patrons especially the walk-ins who plan to buy tickets at the gate, need to follow updates on Joburg Theatre social media pages should there be any last-minute event cancellations due to bad weather conditions. Festival-goers are also asked to allow for extra time for Covid screening procedures when they attend the festival.
