Some people may want to say that jealousy is the green eyed monster – many people cause harm to their friends through jealousy. Friendship is not always rosy and hotter than the African sun.

However as friends individuals should be there for each other – a good friend is someone who is prepared to offer you a shoulder to cry on during your hard times. Equally important a good friend should not be jealous of a friend’s achievements – the angel of conscience teaches us that, if you can’t beat them join them. The following incident reveals it all, how jealousy is the green eyed monster and is the root of all evil.

A jealous friend, Mary Konye, 21, concealing herself in a niqab poured concentrated sulphuric acid on her longtime friend, Naomi Oni’s face disfiguring her. The information available is that Mary Konye, 21, tracked her childhood friend Naomi Oni, 21, as she commuted home from work and then launched this vile attack on her. She followed her from Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, East London, before attacking her just a short distance from her home in Dagenham, Essex. Naomi Oni was scarred for life by the acid attack. Soon after the attack Naomi ran home screaming and shouting for help in agony.

She was rushed to hospital as she lay on the hospital bed, Naomi Oni, said that she phoned her friend, Mary Konye – since a friend in need is a friend indeed. Naomi Oni went on to say:

“She seemed a little bit shocked and she wanted to come and see me. It was the first time I saw my face and I broke down crying.”

In response, Mary Konye, urged her not to worry and she assured her she was going to be Ok.

Mary Konye, of Canning Town, East London denies harming her with intent.

Judge David Radford needs a psychological report compiled before passing his verdict and sentencing, Mary Konye, on the 7th of March.

I don’t doubt the wisdom of the senior citizens, when they say – the evil that men do always catch up with them or live after them. Someone must pay for this despicable attack.
