Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Born Mukudzei Mukombe popularly known as Jah Prayzah by his multitude of followers has asserted himself as the unequivocal undisputed legend of the current crop of musicians in Zimbabwe. Soft spoken when not on stage, but wait a second, hand him his military uniform and traditional guitar “mbira” and you will think a spirit medium of some sort has possessed the 3rd generation band leader.
Coke Studio has been the hub of African musicians who are on the rise and are already tasting greatness in their own respective countries of origin. The Coke Studio has already been graced with legends such as Dr Oliver Mtukudzi, South Africa’s hip-hop superstar AKA, Nigerian dancehall sensation Pato Ranking and Zahara and an array of other sensational talent of Africa’s best musicians.
To grace the Coke Studio, it means you are already “The Man” in the industry and Jah Prayzah has been the man for the past 4 years since the release of his album “Tsviriyo.” Finally Coke Studio 2017 has recognized the stellar undisputed contemporary king of Zimbabwe’s music industry and Jah Prayzah is currently in the Coke Studio awaiting to give us a stellar production.
Jah Prayzah in the past 18 months he has worked with Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz on “Watora Marí” which amassed over a million views on YouTube within a week of release and the South African duet of Mafikizolo on the recently released video “Sendekera” which is also doing well on all media platforms. With all due respect to Mafikizolo, Jah Prayzah on this song just made Mafikizolo relevant again. Vis-a-vis the aforementioned view, a new song of Mafikizolo featuring Jah Prayzah will be released in the upcoming weeks.
Two major projects with Africa’s best and all of them a success, Coke Studio is certainly not a deeper shore that Jah Prayzah can fail to sail upon. From the dusty, thorny rural roads of Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe, a boy who smelled of cow dung known as Mukudzei Mukombe.Maybe some even labeled him “mukomana wekufudza mombe”a shepherd, on Coke Studio 2017 Jah Prayzah has paved his way to become one of Africa’s best.

Jah Prayzah is now dressing eloquently and with charisma on his videos these days.Traditional clothing and him painted in charcoal and mealie meal are long gone,he is now” The Man ” on a mission to conquer Africa and the world at large especially if he continues on the Afro Pop genre he has shown prowess upon in the two exceptional vídeos “Watora Mari” and “Sendekera”. Jah Prayzah has not reached the climax of his career yet but in Zimbabwe, he already deserves to be in the top 5 musicians of all time, in the hall of fame.
Just like his biological name “Mukudzei “lads and ladies take your hats off and respect JP for the unequivocal work he has done to put Zimbabwe’s music on the map.
