Jah Prayzah celebrates his 33rd birthday in style

Being a public figure, his life has not been his alone for the past 10 years or so as he has had to make tough decisions which were driven mostly by his fans.
From being booed off the stage and having showgoers pay music promoters to remove him from the stage, Jah Prayzah (real name Mukudzeyi Mukombe), years later, is a proud man as he never let such people deter him from chasing his dream of one day rocking the airwaves.
Married and with five children, Jah Prayzah has grown to become a national treasure, filling big venues in the country.
His determination, work ethic and unmatched lyricism that has set him apart from the rest has seen him win several awards, share the stage with numerous artistes — local and international, nurture up-and-coming artistes through his Military Touch Movement and put the local music industry on the world map.
Jah Prayzah will celebrate his birthday in style on Saturday when he shares the stage with Ammara Brown, King 98 and Tammy Moyo in an online concert.
The Uzumba-bred singer turns 33 today and he is set to have a party with fellow musicians in a virtual concert that will be screened on ZBCTV.
Jah Prayzah started off his birthday by planting trees as a way of appreciating his life so far:
“As a kick off to the birthday celebrations tomorrow(Saturday), I planted 33 trees at the FOTE Nursery in Chishawasha.
“I am thankful for the life God has given me and these 33 trees represent every year of life that I have been blessed with.
“I hope this will inspire someone out there as it is said , ‘a tree today, a forest tomorrow.
“I would like to also thank our Sahwira Mukuru Nyaradzo Group for making this initiative a success#life,”
Jah Prayzah’s manager Keen Mushapaidze said they have put in place a good programme and there will be various surprises on the night of his birthday(today).
“We are happy to be celebrating with fellow musicians and it is a great thing that they have agreed to come on board for the party,” said Mushapaidze.
“It will not be a show, but a party to celebrate Jah Prayzah’s 33rd birthday. We have done a number of birthday parties before and this one will be different because it is coming at a time when he cannot physically meet with his fans. It will be a different event and we promise a memorable occasion,” said Mushapaidze.
Ammara Brown, in relation to performing with Jah Prayzah for his birthday said:
“It has been a long time since we did the collaboration on stage.
“It is a special song that I perform with him and we are working towards the day.
“Kure Kure” is still a popular song, but we have not been able to perform it on many occasions.”
“We want music lovers to enjoy the day and we know Jah Prayzah is likely to have a memorable event,” she added.
King 98 said he wishes Jah Prayzah a good birthday celebration and he will do his best to support him on the day.
“I have worked with Jah Prayzah at a number of shows and I want to wish him the best at the upcoming celebrations.
“I am excited to be part of the event and I will do my best to support him so that we have a good show. Jah Prayzah is my brother and I look up to him for inspiration and guidance.
“This will be an event to be done for a good cause and we expect it to be memorable,” said King 98.
