Intrigue In Murder Case: Bones Retrieved From Toilet

MUREWA, Zimbabwe.(News Of the South)- In ongoing investigations of the gruesome suspected ritual murder case of boy Tapiwa Makore (7) police in Zimbabwe on Saturday reportedly recovered an assortment of bones and a piece of cloth from murder accused Tapiwa Makore Senior’s pit toilet.
The boy was allegedly murdered and his body dismembered by his uncle and namesake Tapiwa Makore (Senior) and his employee Tafadzwa Shamba on the 17 of September this year.
The two accused persons allegedly connived the murder with yet another of the murdered boy’s uncles Thanks Makore who is said to have recruited them at the promise of US$1 500 payment.
However, although the boy’s mutilated remains were recovered a day after the murder, the head and hands were and are still missing, a situation which has stalled the boy’s burial as investigations continue.
The Herald on Tuesday quotes Police National Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirming the excavation and retrieval of the bones.
“They recovered multiple bones and skulls. We are yet to know whether they are human bones and human skulls or if they belong to animals,” said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi also adding that the bones had been submitted for forensic testing.
“The bones and skulls have been sent for forensic examination. Also recovered was a small tail which was in his house. It was blood-stained. All were sent for forensic examination,” he said.
A number of family members have been implicated in the case including an 11 year old boy who was used to lure Tapiwa (junior) to his uncle, Tapiwa Makore (senior)’s homestead on the fateful day.
Tapiwa Makore Senior reportedly bribed the 11 year old with a T-Shirt and US$5 to buy his silence.
It is also alleged that the boy gave the money to his mother who also swore him to silence and used the money to buy herself a chicken.
The mother of the 11 year old was also arrested and the 11 year old will stand as a state witness in the matter.
Meanwhile, it is reported that murder accused Tapiwa Makore (Senior)’s kitchen hut was gutted to the ground by a fire Sunday, a day after police had visited the home with the accused for indications, which is also when they recovered the bones from his toilet.
Speaking on Tider Live Zim, a reality talk show, one of the murdered boy’s family, a woman only identified as Gogo Beaullah said that they woke up Sunday morning to find Tapiwa Makore (senior)’s kitchen burnt to the ground.
The cause of fire has not been established and police are still investigating.
