Harare, (News of The South) – The economy is never getting any sorber and the prices of liquor continues to skyrocket a predicament which is likely to cause more harm than good to the population of alcohol takers as their majority now resort to cheap liquors whose inflows have been on a rise into the country.

According to a research survey carried out by News of the South recently shows that the inflow of unregulated medicine into the country is on the rise and thereafter is bound to be used for a different purpose.

The unemployed youth in average both males and females have allegedly developed a hallucinatory tendency in various down trodden suburbs of Harare attributed to the high abuse of unregulated medicine such as hysterlics and bronhclear.

Recently the Parly Portfolio on Health and Child Care engaged Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) in an attempt to assess measures taken so far to mitigate importation of un tree unregulated medicine.

In a presentation MCAZ Director General Dr Gugu opened to the parliament that the organization was working tirelessly to mitigate the rampant scourge which they have not been able to control.

“ In some cases we carry out inspections after receiving reports from the public. We have seen an increasing trend in in what are called Section 75 Applications. Basically it allows importation of unregistered medicines which are usually imported specifically for individuals who go out of the country to seek these medicines.”

With the drugs getting into the streets for unchecked have seen the medicines control body failing to uphold capacity to subdue the illicit activities.

“ yes we are aware that there are these illicit street drugs. As the economy has deteriorated this has become increasingly so and we think drugs are leaking all over the place from public institutions to all over the place in the streets.”

“ We have no mandate to go into the streets it is the mandate of ZRP. Our mandate is if somebody sets up an outlet in the streets our mandate actually begins.”

It also came to the attention of the parliament that immigration department is also grappling with the control medicines of illicit nature which the law enforcement agence are also reluctant to subdue.

Given a worrying some trend the appalling inflow of uregulated medicines is a health time bomb to the middle aged youth and the alcoholic takers who have lately find them to be a good supplement of beverage beers.
