Zimbabwe – (News of The South) – The Zimbabwean Reigning Champions FC Platinum has been rocked by the Caf's imminent decision which led their coach Pieter Hendricks De Jongh being barred from presiding over continental matches. FC Platinum board and management were forced to terminate Hendricks' contract by mutual consent due to circumstances and reasons beyond both parties leading to the announcement of the return of Norman Mapeza as Head coach.
The Dutchman, Hendricks who dumped the Bulawayo giants Highlanders FC sometime early this year for the money bags, the Zvishavane based outfit FC Platinum, is now an unfortunate man in dilemma after Caf’s decision.
The way he exited, left Highlanders FC is just similar to the way his ties were cut shot with FC Platinum. In African beliefs it seems like a curse considering how the Highlanders followers were in pain and so grieved when he left the club, they had pinned their club revival hopes on Hendricks.
But the fact is Pieter Hendricks De Jongh is a holder of a UEFA A license which he obtained in his native country Netherlands and does not hold a Caf A coaching license which is a pre – requisite in Caf Inter-Club competitions.
According to Caf, Hendricks’ alternative coaching badge from Europe was considered not to be equivalent or above to the continental governing body’s qualifications.
Automatically this renders that De Jongh can not sit on the bench for that level of coaching in African. FC Platinum tried to make frantic efforts to appeal for special lenient considerations but were turned down by Caf.
Moreso, FC Platinum Patrick Mandizha does not posses a Caf A license instead is a Caf B license holder of which he can not be the Head coach. FC Platinum management immediately romped in their former coach Norman Mapeza and announced his return as Head coach.
The Platinum miners, FCP are the only Country’s representative this time for the continental soccer safari. The team will be traveling to Maputo, Mozambique to face Costa Do Sol before hosting then in the capital, Harare in Zimbabwe.
