MuscleFood.com a British website established in Basford, Nottingham was inundated by buyers of horse meat when it launched the sale of horse meat products last Thursday. The products on sale were fillet steaks, lean mince and meatballs.

Within a short space of time after the launch of selling of horse meat – all the available horse meat products were sold. Sales are steadily improving and have now surpassed 3.000 packs.

Darren Beale of MuscleFood.com had this to say:

‘’Until all the publicity last year a lot of people didn’t know it was an option. Obviously food needs to be labelled correctly. But we have found British consumers don’t have anything against horse …’’

If horse meat becomes popular in the UK it would have followed countries like France, Mexico, Belgium, China, Northern Italy, Japan and many other countries which have escaped my mind, where horse meat is a delicacy.
