The city breathes, a vibrant, bustling sound,
And in its heart, my duty can be found.
A Princess born, to listen and to heed,
To every voice, each silent, spoken need.
From different paths, they come with weary soul,
Their burdens shared, their stories take their toll.
I lend an ear, a guiding hand I try,
And where I lack, I point them to the sky,
Or earthly aid, where solace they may find,
A signpost true, to leave no soul behind.
This crown I wear, it is no gilded toy,
But forged in work, in tireless, swift employ.
The clock spins on, and duty knows no rest,
Each face I meet, a story to invest.
From every tongue, a tapestry untold,
Of lives entwined, both new and very old.
To stand for all, a constant, steady light,
To offer strength, and make what’s wrong feel right.
The greatest joy, a creative spirit’s gleam,
To build and mend, to nurture hope’s bright dream.
The ancient tales, the lineage I bear,
The wisdom of my clan, a sacred care.
To document, to teach, with fervent grace,
To share our roots with all in time and space.
That heritage may bloom, a vibrant tree,
And younger hearts, its worth and beauty see.
From noble sires, a powerful current flows,
To know my kin, where my deep river goes.
To stand on truth, a heritage so grand,
To feel the strength of this ancestral land.
Yet shadows fall, and not all hearts are kind,
Enemies rise, while friendships intertwine.
Some praise my name, while others hold their scorn,
But love for Harare, each and every morn,
Must be my guide, my unwavering star,
To mend the wounds, and cross each hindering bar.
An all-weather soul, I must forever be,
Prepared to face the storms that rage in me,
Or those that gather, threatening our peace,
With courage strong, may challenges decrease.
For victory’s sweet taste, the progress we must see,
The key to life, for all eternally.
So let my heart beat with Harare’s own,
A Princess true, upon this cherished throne.
