Harare , Zimbabwe News of The South) – Following the tragic helicopter crash in New York City that claimed the lives of Agustín Escobar, head of Siemens’ Spanish division, his wife, and their three children, a member of the Harare royal family has shared their long-standing and rigorous travel safety precautions.

Speaking from Leicester where they are currently residing, the family member, who wishes to remain anonymous, explained that as descendants of the former Kings of Harare, they have ingrained practices to ensure the safety of their lineage.

“It is with deep sadness that we learned of the devastating loss in New York,” they stated. “Such events serve as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life, and it reinforces the importance of the safety measures we have always adhered to as a family.”

The Harare royal family member detailed several key protocols they follow, particularly when undertaking travel, especially for events like holidays that take them out of town. A primary rule is to never travel together as a single unit. Of there is any danger encountered on the riute and u are travelking as convoy the whole group will fall into danger.

“When we travel for any vent or any out-of-town gathering, we always split our group,” they explained. “Different family members will use separate routes, and we consciously avoid taking off at the same time if flying. Our aim is always to meet safely at our destination.”
This practice extends to return journeys as well, with the same safety precautions being implemented once the time comes to travel back.
Furthermore, the family has a strict policy against flying on the same aircraft. “We never take the same plane,” the family member emphasized.

They recounted a rare instance in 2007 when sixteen family members traveled on the same flight to Victoria Falls for a two-week holiday. “We were told off by our elders and have never done it again,” they admitted.
The tradition of prioritising safety is deeply rooted in their history. The family member explained that their forefathers, the former Kings of Harare, also practiced strategic measures to protect their lineage.

“The former Kings had members of the Mbari clan deliberately scattered across the kingdom,” they shared. “This ensured that in the event of danger or an attack on the King at his headquarters in Kopje, others within the Mbari lineage, like Makombe in Mazoe, would survive. King Mbari also had multiple wives and many children, which was another security measure to safeguard the family’s future.”

These historical lessons and family practices have been passed down through generations. “We have learned a great deal from our forefathers and our direct family experiences,” the family member stated. “It is our responsibility to impart this knowledge to our children and future descendants, hoping it will be helpful to other families as well.”

They concluded by expressing their condolences for the victims of the helicopter crash. “It is truly sad to hear about the tragic loss of life. Our thoughts are with the families affected, and we pray that their souls rest in power.”

This insight into the Harare royal family’s travel safety protocols highlights the importance of preparedness and risk mitigation, espec1ially in an increasingly interconnected world where unforeseen events can occur. Their traditions, born from a history of safeguarding their lineage, offer a unique perspective on family safety in the face of potential dangers.
