Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – IT will be a mixed dish to taste the palette of art and food lovers when the inaugural Harare International Food Music Festival takes place at the Borrowdale Race Course from April 30 to May 1.

This is one of such kind of a jamboree in Zimbabwe which brings together a plethora of musicians from across the spectra of gospel, jazz, hip hop, while DJs will also have a time to show the stuff that makes them pyrotechnic when it comes to “wheel-spinning”.

But there is a cherry on top of the cake: Food competitions, food awards, exhibitions and children’s games also add flavour to the appeal of the dish.

The music shows are of international appeal, with the opening act being presented by The Dream Star Team comprising a pool of youthful musicians who were brought together under a talent scouting programme.

The show is free and starts at 10 am and runs until midday.

From 2pm to 6pm on the same day it will be the “Genesis Gospel Show” featuring some of the top cream of Zimbabwean gospel musicians.

These include Pastor Charles Charamba and his wife, Amai Olivia Charamba, who have over the years become icons in the genre, while “Ebenezer” hit-maker, Reverend Toggy Chivaviro will also be part of the stellar line-up.

It is possible that the Charambas, as well as the other artistes on this slot, will join Rev Chivariro in doing this song which features various top gospel musicians in Zimbabwe.

Minister Mahendere will be out to prove why he is currently enjoying the ride on the crest of a wave on the music charts with his powerful album, when he also performs on the same segment in tandem with the indefatigable Sabastian Magacha of the “Ridza Bosvo” fame.

“Jazz Night \” winds up the opening day and this is potentially explosive as well since it features none other than the grandmaster of Zimbabwean music, Oliver Mtukudzi, who will headline the slot alongside great talents in the form of internationally-renowned Mokoomba, Eve Kawadza, Munya Nyamarebvu, Maxwell C and Daniel Jenkins.

The closing day will see hip hop artistes Junior Brown, Calvin, Trae Yung, Croft, T Gonzi and Pro Beats, among others entertaining the crowd.

The “DJ Battle Night” is also mouthwatering: DJ Nivek, Ash Styles, The Movement, DJ Tannie, Swiss and DJ Dawee will be alternating on the turntables.

There will be over 100 exhibitors, best dishes competitions, and best exhibitors’ awards while kids will have a time of their life in the various games that will be on offer.
