Harare, Zimbabwe – President Emmerson Mnangagwa today officially commissioned the newly completed Trabablas Interchange, marking a significant milestone in the city’s infrastructure development. The multi-million dollar project, formerly known as the Mbudzi Roundabout, is expected to drastically reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety in one of Harare’s busiest intersections.
The interchange, named after President Mnangagwa’s liberation war nickname,
“Trabablas,” features a modern flyover, widened lanes, and upgraded pedestrian walkways.
Officials say this development will ease the flow of traffic along Simon Mazorodze, Chitungwiza, and High Glen roads, which have long been notorious for traffic bottlenecks.
“This interchange is a testament to our commitment to modernizing Zimbabwe’s infrastructure,” stated a government spokesperson. “It will not only improve the daily commute for thousands of residents but also boost economic activity by facilitating the efficient movement of goods.”
The project, however, has not been without its critics. Concerns have been raised about the overall cost of the project, which is reported to be 88 million US dollars. Despite the controversy, residents are hopeful that the new interchange will bring much-needed relief to the city’s traffic woes.
The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, local business leaders, and residents, all eager to witness the culmination of this major infrastructure project.
