Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Grocery shortages are beginning to hit British shops allegedly as repercussions for the country’s exit from the European Union (EU) famously called Brexit earlier this year according to media reports.
Unilever has reportedly called for a 10 percent price increase on its products citing post Brexit pound slump a move which has been rebuffed by Tesco.
Tesco, which is Britain’s biggest supermarket, has opted not to restock the 100 products.
Some of the products include Vaseline, Surf, Royco, Imperial Margarine, Domestos, Dove and Dove Spa.
This row between Unilever, against retailing shop Tesco has set the stage for the disappearance of these famous brands as consumers have come out accusing the wholesaler of exploiting consumers.
They have also been calls for a mass boycott of the Unilever goods.
According to the Economist Tesco has also seen its promotion products falling from 24.8 percent before the referendum in July to 23.7 percent after.
Since the Brexit the pound has fallen by one tenth against the US dollar.
