Zimbabwe. (News Of The South)- Google Inc. has assured its Zimbabwean customers that their Gmail accounts are safe following “false hacking” claims made by a man claiming to be a government contract hacker (Baba Jukwa).
A Google spokesperson dismissed as “rumors and speculations”, the claims by the Sunday Mail editor Edmund Kudzayi that he had succesfully broken into a Gmail account used by a notorious Facebook blogger, Baba Jukwa, accused by the authorities of fomenting violent
revolution.
“We dont comment on rumour or speculation, nor on individual cases relating to Gmail users,” said the spokesperson. “When it comes to security, Google goes above and beyond to make sure users information is safe, secure and always available. For example, we encrypt e-mail and the search traffic between your computer and Google when you are signed into Gmail and Google Search.
“This protection stops others from snooping on your activity while you are on an open network, like when you use your laptop at a coffee shop. We have also encrypted the data that flows between our data centers, and our security experts are continually working to extend and strengthen this protection across more services and links.”
