News of the South HARARE – Esteemed travel service provider Impala Car Rental officially launched its South African branches in a breakfast meeting this morning, where they interacted with business partners most of whom are travel agents who are the company’s anchor.
In an interview with News of the South on the sidelines of the event, Impala Car Rental Brand and Projects Manager Tracy Ngoma said they have been operational in South Africa for a year.
“It’s our 13th month operating in South Africa but locally we felt that we needed to bring face of the people that represent us in South Africa and let them meet the people that support them in Zimbabwe hence us having this breakfast meeting,” Ngoma said.
She added that the purpose of the event was also to have a business interaction with travel agents who are important to the life of Impala.
"Today we wanted to have a business interaction with particularly the travel agents because they really do support our business, that’s the first port of call when a person wants to travel and we come in providing the driving experience hence our theme ‘Arrive and Drive’ so today we wanted to officially launch the South Africa branches,” she added.
Travel agencies expressed pleasure in their doing business with Impala as there were no complains put forth in the meeting.
Ngoma said they hope to grow their synergies and partner with hotels and even B’n’Bs to come up with a solid and competitive package and make travel experiences memorable.
"We currently have branches; we have Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. There are plans underway to have something set up in Newcastle which is between Johannesburg and Durban within the Kwazulu Natal Province.
We have other prospects that we are looking into in terms of expansion but the main branches that are fully operational are Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, and in Zimbabwe we have Harare Bulawayo and Victoria Falls,” she said.
In response to whether they have prospects of expansion to other small destinations in Zimbabwe Ngoma said plans are there and even though they may not be physically available in other places, the company has provisional solutions where they facilitate deliveries and reach out to all corners of the country.
Impala has grown into a group of companies with the core of the business which is Impala Car Rental then Facet Matlock which is a fitment centre and Impala Motor Spares, a new project they recently launched.
