As Zimbabweans celebrate the departure of a country’s super hero, we have a mixture of sadness and appreciation of the awesome person you were.
You dedicated your skills and passion to bring a whole nation to many victories in this life. For that, Zimbabwe appreciates you.
You inspired many youths as you graced our annual calendars in every home, year after year. For that we stand up in applause to a true icon.
Your sweat watered many stadiums as you drove your team to victory after victory. In that you are irreplaceable.
Every once in a while, a miracle is born and lives amongst us. A giant in every sense of the word, charismatic, loveable, skilled, powerful and that gives us a sense of loss when such a miracle is snatched into another world that we can’t reach. For that, George Shaya, we are truly sad.
We are on this earth for a brief moment, each one with a job to shine, but you George shined brightest in the field of play and were marvelous to watch.
The clock has run out for your time with us and we are struggling and wishing we had just a few more days to actually tell you how much you meant to a nation, your family and all those that looked up to you and your awesomeness. A we cry, we cry for ourselves that we didn’t do enough or say enough.
Farewell to a great man, a Zimbabwean superhero. As you join the other world, we know your energy will never die. As you breathed your last breath on this planet, we want to believe another little George breathed their first breath somewhere else in the world. We may never meet that little George but we will recognise him if he plays, cares, is as passionate and loving just as you were to us.
We are poorer for our loss, but you George, enriched our lives beyond measure, with week after week of great entertainment and victories that spanned 2 countries. From Rhodesia to Zimbabwe, you will be missed brother, father, husband.
Rest well, rest happy, you did everything you were put on earth for and then you did some more.
For that we celebrate your life.
Farewell George…
