Authorities bring charges for video that depicts alleged ‘sexual act’

UGANDAN POLICE have charged a British man over possession of a film showing a “sexual act”.
Bernard Randell was arrested earlier in October and appeared at a court near capital city Kampala with a Ugandan man who was charged with “procuring another person to commit acts of gross indecency”.
It is understood the charges relate to “homosexual acts”, according to local media reports.
The British Foreign Office said it is aware of Randell’s arrest, it said: “We are aware of the arrest of a British national on October 19 in Uganda and are providing consular assistance.”
Randell and Ugandan national Albert Cheptheptoyet have since been released on bail and are next to appear in court on November 18 following the charges brought against them at Entebbe Magistrates Court.
The lawyer of Randell confirmed his client has been charged with trafficking an obscene publication.
The country’s Daily Monitor reported that both men had been exposed to “medical tests” that determined they had committed “homosexual acts”, according to comments from state prosecutor Ivan Kyazze.
The Ugandan government has come under international criticism from human rights groups for its laws against gay people and individuals who engage in homosexual behaviour.- The Voice
