The Turkish champions have booked their place in the knockout stage of the Uefa Champions League in fashion following their crucial 1-0 home victory over Juventus courtesy of Wesley Sneijder’s late strike on Wednesday afternoon at Turk Telekom Arena.

The match was abandoned after 31 minutes on Tuesday evening due to heavy snow downpour, and the match was billed to continue Wednesday afternoon.

Sneijder latched on to Didier Drogba’s pass to fire past Juventus goalminder Gianluig Buffon in later stages of the match, as Galatasary book a place into the knockout stage of Uefa Champions League in style.

The priceless goal secured Roberto Mancini’s men three points they needed to progress to the last round of 16 on second position behind Real Madrid.

The tourists had many chances on Tuesday when Llorente going close after good work from Arturo Vidal, but the Turkish champions were a better side when the match resumed on Wednesday.

Drogba forced a smart right-handed save from Buffon before he shielded the ball to allow Sneijder to shoot wide after vicious efforts.

In the 79th minute Claudio Marchisio attempt on goal was thwarted, before Juventus’ backline was finally broken ending a Serie A seven match clean sheets when Drogba headed the ball into Sneijder’s way, with the Dutch international firing past Buffon, sending thr two-time winners into the Europa League.
