Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Confusion reigns as to the identity of youths who besieged former Vice President and Zimbabwe People First leader Joice Mujuru’s Highlands house last Friday with conflicting statements coming out.

Some sections have accused ZANU PF youths of camping at Mujuru’s house and demonstrating for reasons that are yet to be ascertained.

The youths had to be dispersed by riot police.

ZimPF has since released a statement with some names of the alleged youths who took part in the demonstration citing them as fake ZimPF members who are actually part of ZANU PF.

The named people include Ellington Nhanga, Justin Kambiro, Simbarashe Mandeya and Tendai Mushando.
ZANU PF has however refused that its youths had anything to do with the demonstrators with its party spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo refusing to be involved in the skirmishes.

“We have no time for that and I can’t comment on issues that have no effect to Zanu PF”, Moyo was quoted as saying in a daily.

Statements from ZimPF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo however seem to point to the youths being his party’s members demonstrating against what they are calling the failure of the party’s old guard to appreciate the political dynamics of today.

Speaking to Newsday Gumbo said it was a small matter.

“They are mere misunderstandings that are happening, but we are not moved by that. It happens in a large organisation, but what is critical is the resolve to fight with the people through ZimPF”, he said about the conflicts in the young party.

ZimPF has been dithering since its creation taking time to hold a congress and launch, seemingly unsure of its direction.

It will officially be launched in October.

This has opened room to much speculation and uncertainty leading to no progress on the front of coalition with other opposition parties as the 2018 elections draw near.

The latest skirmishes are likely to draw the glee of the ruling ZANU PF which has always dismissed ZimPF as a baseless upstart bound to fail soon.

However as part of the opposition the recent events spell gloom.
