The former Nigerian captain 34 year old Joseph Yobo who has been missing from action for six months is ready to make a comeback to football.

The ex- Everton defender is keen on playing at the highest level again after his contract at Turkish side Fernerbache was ended by mutual consent in August 2014.

Yobo was on a six months loan to Championship club Norwich City last season, but is now a free agent and has not played competitively since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“I have really looked after myself and I know I can still play at the top level,” Yobo told BBC Sport. “The most important thing is to stay in good shape and that’s exactly what I have been doing,” he added. “I still have some clubs who have shown significant interest in me.

Despite calling time on his international career after the World Cup, Nigeria’s most capped player has been linked with moves to the Championship and the MLS but insists he will put his family first.

“Before finalising anything I would have to consider my family first, but I seriously hope to return to action sooner rather than later.”
