Tinoonga Mawere(News of the South)- Masvingo- The food situation in Masvingo Province is highly critical due to the effects of drought, government sources have revealed.
Government sources at Benjamin Burombo Building in the ancient city of Masvingo told this publication yesterday frantic efforts were being made to avert starvation.
The most affected areas are Chivi, Mwenezi and Chiredzi Districts according to officials at Benjamin Burombo Building.
“The crop situation in the province is very bad to say the least.There is no
hope of salvaging decent yields in some parts of the Province,” government sources said yesterday.
“The prolonged dry spell has impacted negatively on both crops and animals.
In Chiredzi farmers are losing their cattle at an alarming rate.”
