The search for Missing Malaysian Flight 370 which went missing on March 8 resumed Friday with crew planes identifying objects in a new search area.
The search party from the Australian maritime abandoned the remote region of the Indian Ocean where much time was spent last week.
A new analysis of satellite data shows that the plane could not have gone so far.
“We have moved on from those search areas,” John Young, Australian general manager for emergency response said.
The new zone is 1 100 km to the north east, closer to the Australian Coast.
The agency said five of the ten planes dispatched spotted objects in the water below and crews took photographs yet to be analysed overnight.
“The objects cannot be verified or discounted as being from MH370 until they are relocated and recovered by ship,” the authority said in a statement.
Therefore, Friday’s developments cap three weeks of false leads in the search for the plane which disappeared on March 8 with 239 people aboard.
