FIFA`s Blatter To Be Succeeded By Jeffrey Webb
Sepp Blatter the head of world football has suggested that Caribbean Jeffrey Webb might succeed him.
49 year old Webb from the Cayman Isles became Concacaf President after winning the elections in May 2012.
Blatter made these revelations while making an address at the North, Central America and the Caribbean (Concaaf) summit. The statements by Blatter are however not confirmation.
Long serving 77 year old Blatter indicated he would step down “in the near future”.
Blatter became football`s boss in 1998.
Webb, head of Concacaf, was named by Blatter as his future replacement when the long-serving Swiss chief was incorrectly introduced as “Fifa’s vice-president” by a local press officer.
In response, Blatter quipped: “”I think you’re a prophet.
“There could be a new FIFA President in the near future and this President could be Jeffrey Webb.
“This would not mean I would be vice-president. Once you have been a horse you don’t go back to the stable.”
Statements made by Blatter suggest that he may be stepping down before 2015 when FIFA`s next elections are due.
Frenchman Michel Platini UEFA President has also been seen as another candidate to take over from Blatter.
