Victoria, Seychelles. (News of The South) – Today marks the last day of negotiations between the European Union and the Eastern Southern States that are being held at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles.
The negotiations which started on Tuesday are focusing on the implementation of an interim economic partnership.

“At a time where there seems to be a growing tendency for protectionism particularly in international trade, our relations have remained steadfast in our commitment to each other,” said EU Ambassador Haymandoyal Dillum.

Areas that are being discussed at the meeting include free movement of goods, public procurement, intellectual property rights, trade and competition, agriculture dispute avoidance and settlement amongst others.
The EU and Eastern Southern African States interim Economic Partnership Agreement (iEPA) which was orchestrated in 2009 comprises of Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Zimbabwe.
