(News of The South) – The controversial Italia frontman Mario Balotelli says his winning goal against the Three Lions was for his girlfriend Fanny Neguesha and believed that more is yet to come.
Mario netted a 50th minute header that proved to be the winner for the Azzurri as they cruised to a hard fought 2 – 1 victory after Claudio Marchisio and Daniel Sturridge had both scored in a group D clash.
The AC Milan talisman dedicated his goal to his Belgian fiancé, who was watching the match from the stands barely a week after accepting an engagement proposal from Balo at their training camp.
It`s a unique experience, “ Balotelli told Gazetta dello Sport.
“I`ve never played in a World cup. It was my first World Cup match and it was a wonderful sensational experience.
“My goal is dedicated to my future wife who is here and my friends who are at home”.
The Azzurri now appear favourites to top the group after Uruguay`s 3- 1 loss to Costa Rica and they will face Costa Rica on June 20 and Uruguay four days later.
