Harare Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – Zimbabwe’s largest mobile network provider Econet Wireless will soon be providing electronic SIM (eSIM) services to its customers.
Econet customers will now be able to connect to the network without using a physical SIM as the SIM will now be embedded in their phones. The eSIM service will be working with devices such as the iPhone XS, XR, 11 and Microsoft Surface Pro X.
Econet Zimbabwe’s project manager Rufaro Nelson said, “this is yet another ground breaking initiative which serves to enhance the Econet customer experience.
We look forward to being the first to bring this new technology to Zimbabwe and Econet subscribers very soon.”
Mobile network providers such as Africell, Mtn and Vodacom are amongst some of the network providers that have already ventured into the eSIM market in Africa.
eSIM also works with other cellular devices apart from iPhone and Microsoft provided they have the features that can accommodate eSIMs. The eSIM service also helps with the issue of changing SIM cards when one travels to another country.
