Tinoonga Mawere (News of the South)- Chegutu- The local city council has confirmed that a rare diarrhoea outbreak hit the sleepy town last week.

According to Chegutu Mayor Councillor Henry Muchatibaya the town was hit by by a mysterious
diarrhoea outbreak last week.

“We can confirm that the town was hit by a rare diarrhoea outbreak last week and we are making frantic efforts to combat the outbreak,” he said.

“Residents of Umvovo Suburb were the most affected, with a sizeable number seeking medical treatment at Chinengundu Clinic,” a council source said. The mayor denied claims that
council was supplying contaminated water. He said tests conducted on the water proved that it was
safe for human consumption.
