0 0The long awaited Diamond Ball in aid of Nyagari Medical Centre on July 9 2016 at Alea Casino, Glasgow from 7.30pm.
The event is being hosted by LHM Foundation and will be a black tie event.
Lydia Heather Mudhari Founder of LHM Foundation recalls a traumatic Childhood experience when her parents relocated to a farming resettlement area of Zimbabwe, Nyagari Village in the 80’s.
“At the age of 10, I witnessed my mother giving birth at home without any professional medical assistance. There was neither a Clinic nor Hospital nearby. There was no means of transport or communication. I had to perform the job of a midwife following mum’s instructions. I remember cutting the umbilical code with my eyes closed. It was a tragic experience, mum lost so much blood, she fell unconscious, I thought I had killed her and wanted to kill myself but the baby was screaming for my attention. This was not the only tragic incident I witnessed, there were many deaths in the area not to mention diseases and accidents. I had hoped that things would change over the years but to my surprise 3 decades down the line, the people of Nyagari walk more than 20km to a substandard rural clinic with no quality medication or quality services, the nearest hospital is more than 100km away”.
“Today I live in the first world where I have access to quality health and everything I need but my heart breaks when I think of where I came from, the people I left behind and how many people have lost their lives. I want to give back to this community and save lives through fundraising and mobilising resources to build a medical centre. LHM Foundation target to raise £100 000 for the construction of Nyagari medical centre.”
Mudhari has had so much experience in hosting events, and has teamed up with a great friend Leah Ruth Gilloth of LG Events Logistics who has excellent skills in organising fundraising events. They will together host the Diamond Ball, a Black Tie event at a five star venue with a touch of Las Vegas, Alea Glasgow. It’s the ideal venue to host this unique event and we are inviting local members of the community, colleagues, organisations and companies to attend and support the event for a good cause. There will be live entertainment, raffle draw, silent auction and lots of prizes to be won. Every guest will enjoy a delicious 3 course menu and drinks on arrival.
