Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) Delta Corporation Limited and the Boost Fellowship have partnered to promote sustainable environmental management through innovation, community empowerment and entrepreneurial action initiatives being undertaken by various university teams in Zimbabwe.
Various university teams in the country on Friday 13 October, 2017 walked away with their pockets lined with cash of different amounts at the Delta-Boost ethics social responsibility showcase event held in Harare.
Members of the public and stakeholders in the environmental sector took chances to view the exhibitions set up by students with their products explaining activities of their respective companies and the environmental impact that they have brought to their communities.
The universities that were paired in power teams pitched to judges that invested amounts to plow back in their respective projects for up-scaling through incubation courtesy of the Boost Fellowship and Delta Corporation. Business minds were provoked at the event as the talk of the pitches was all about business acumen.
The programme had been running for eight months in different communities across Zimbabwe through the form of community awareness programmes with an emphasis of developing a recycling culture of waste for communities. Projects
showcased that one can add value to waste and generate income.
After the 2017 Delta-Boost ethics pitch, the teams shall be incubated which shall see them being paired with mentors to assist and ensure that their businesses grow into viable enterprises that address the employment and waste management challenges facing the country.
