Harare.(News of the South)- The Electoral Court Thursday is expected to hand down the ruling in the matter in which Goodwills Masimirembwa and Mavies Gumbo fraudulently withdrew winning Zanu PF candidate Terence Mukupe’s nomination papers for June by-election.

Cde Terence Mukupe last week filed an application with the Electoral Court challenging the order by acting ZANU PF chairperson Goodwills Masimirembwa, working on Chombo’s instructions, to withdraw his candidature for the June 10 parliamentary by elections.

In the primary elections which were conducted on Saturday April 11, Cde Terence Mukupe garnered 651 votes beating Gumbo who got 369 votes.

In papers filed at the Electoral Court It is said Chombo threatened the nomination court’s presiding officer and, as a result, the officer rejected Terence Mukupe’s nomination papers which were signed by Kasukuwere.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission chairperson Rita Makarau and Masimirembwa are cited as respondents.

The delay in court sitting has led to the Zanu PF provincial leadership taking advantage by instilling fear to district officials by threatening them to withdrew their support for Cde Terence Mukupe.

“We were told to stay away from Cde Terence Mukupe otherwise we will be kicked out of party,” said Women’s League Chairwoman Mrs Nyabasa.

The whole of Harare Province leadership led by “foolish” Goodwills Masimirembwa had declared war on innocent Cde Terence Mukupe and has been trying all their efforts best to decampaigne him. Among the team was losing central committee member Zvandasara, Losing Mavis Gumbo to mention only a few.

All Harare East losing candidates for Zanu PF had joined the Masimirembwa bandwagon against Cde Terence Mukupe.

“We are happy for tomorrow, the people who voted for Cde Terence Mukupe have been abused and threatened by Masimirembwa and Mavies and am happy that it’s coming to an end.

They have proven themselves that they are not leaders and are against people’s party ZANU PF,” said Mtandazo Ndlovu, Terence Mukupe’s spokesperson.
