I still have questions pertaining to the efficacy of these COVID-19 vaccines, and how that was ascertained.

By Ruben Tendai Mbofana

(News of The South) – Who did the testing for these drugs? Who compiled and produced the trial data? Who verified and confirmed this trial data? How does institutions like the FDA actually verify this trial data, before approving any medication?

I think the main problem we have – which inevitably leads to all the suspicions and conspiracy theories – is the lack of adequate public information regarding these issues.
Most people would then rely on unverified information planted on social media, without any knowledge of its authenticity.

Thus, people like me, would be tempted to place more faith in my own immune system (through a healthy lifestyle), whilst at the same time practising social distancing, proper wearing of face masks, and generally keeping away from unnecessary meeting with other people, as much as I can.

Why? Honestly, how many of us possess the relevant information on these vaccines, and their efficacy? Do I want to be a potential test pig? No. So, if I was to choose between a vaccine I knew virtually nothing about, and the risk of acquiring COVID-19 – sadly and reluctantly, I would have to take the risk.
Maybe, the vaccines will prove to be a huge success and phenomenal breakthrough – I don’t know. No one knows. But, for now – I would rather be safe than sorry.
