The Portuguese international has dismissed Franck Ribery’s bid on the Ballon d’Or, saying that the Frenchman is not at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
Real Madrid defender believes that there is only one choice for this year’s individual accolade, given Argentina’s finest has been sidelined for so long due to injuries in 2013.
“Messi is excellent player, but he has been out of action for a long time,” Coentrao told A Bola.”And you can’t give an award like this to Ribery, who only netted 22 times.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has always been at the top of his game and scored more goals.”
On January 13, the winner of 2013 Ballon d’Or will be announced in Zurich, Switzerland.
