Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South )Professor Jonathan Moyo has revealed as lies information released by the Herald which implied that Sakunda Holdings paid duty for 1 million litres of petrol and diesel sourced for the Command Agriculure programme.
According to the Higher Education Minister the invoices are from January 2014 long before the Command Agriculure programme began.
The Herald article was published earlier this week and purpoted to possess invoices which disputed claims made earlier  by Moyo that fuel for the special maize import substiution programme was duty free.
“Invoices obtained by the Herald from the National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC) showed that Sakunda Holdings paid duty for the 1 million litres of diesel and petrol used under Command Agriculture beween Sepember 2016 and last Friday”, wrote the Herald.
However a closer scrutiny of the purpoted invoices has revealed that they are dated 2014 and are obviously not for  this year.
The shocking revelation has now increased fears that Prof Moyo’s allegations that the Command Agriculture programme is ridled wih corruption may be factual.
Writing on social media Moyo called the whole episode a shame and called for independant auditors to look into the matter.
“This assertion (about fake receipts) needs to be audited by the Auditor General or external auditors”

“An invoice is no proof of payment”

“Invoices are no receipts”
“Thank you Mawarire for exposing the fake January 2014 command invoice. Then I was Miniser of Informaion and Joice Mujuru was VP. Shame”, he said.

Moyo further attacked the Herald for quashing his assertion that 1,4 million families benefited from the Presidential Input  Support Scheme.
The Herald said it had emerged that “contrary to Prof Moyo’s claims that 1,4 million households benefied from the Presidential Input Support Scheme, only 1,1 million families benefited”.
However the Prof retorted on social media that the publicaion was wrong again.
“Presidential Input Support  Scheme gave maize inputs to 1,1 million households and cotton inputs to 300, 000. The two add up to 1,4 million”, he said.
The issue of the Command Agriculure Programme has become a platform upon which the internal succession battles in ZANU PF are being fought with  Moyo constantly vilifying  VP Mnangagwa.
The VP has himself seemingly roped in the support of state publications which have been on a campaign to attack and bring down Moyo who in turn has been using social media platforms such as Twitter to hit back.
